Games with Gold - D4 - She wants the D.

We all love freebies
Today's curiosity comes in the form of Xbox live's free Game with Gold title D4. Dark Dreams Don't Die, which I have no clue about.

A quick look at the synopsis tells me this is a story about a time travelling detective who has to solve his wife's murder. Sounds riveting

Apparently I can use Kinect!

I jump with joy as the ability to play with controller comes up, my room being too small for Kinect's wonky ass control system, choosing to work half the time and then not at all.

Looks like it's broken down into Episodic levels, Prologue, Episode 1 and Episode 2 like the ever expanding Telltale games Library, that never being a bad thing.

Developed at Japanese studio Access Games and Published by Microsoft Studios , Access Games also known for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title Deadly Premonition.

Dark Dreams Don't Die
D4 shows its comic book and anime influence using the ever popular cell shading technique seen in titles like Gearbox's Borderland Series and Telltale's Walking Dead, utilising Epics Unreal 4 Engine to give it a truly unique comic book finish.

First things first it wants me, a small girl, to punch an owl in the face.

This small girl named Peggy, decides to punch the owl, the owl retaliating by flying off really really SAD.

Enter irresponsible Father figure, happy to let his young daughter walk onto a frozen lake to punch owls, bet he feels like a dick now as it fly's away leaving the lake to start cracking

You okay David?
Skip forward generic amount of time to introduce our zany protagonist David Young, our time travelling cop who wakes up in a bath ,explaining how by touching items called ' Mementos ' he can dive into the past re living scenarios.

Only when knocked unconscious does he then travel back to the present waking up in his bathtub, the bathroom being some super past travelling conductor full of old mementos from memories long forgotten.

Later revealing his only memory of the whole escapade were his wife's dying words
' GIVE.ME.THE.D ', I mean ' Look for D '

This all some how being linked to a drug named ' Real Blood ', said to give the user God like powers unlike any other drug available, little being know of how to buy or even make the stuff.

The only facts known being that users normally die in strange satanic ways i.e. being drained of all their blood.

I want to say Guy Pierce will play the movie adaptation of David Young, both of those facts being lies as of writing.

It takes along time to do anything as I check every item I can see, OCD kicking in, later realising you can use your ' Vision ' ability to highlight remaining interactive objects narrowing down the weirdly planned out level design, always keeping something shiny a shoulder's look away.
Amber, Full Time Weirdo.

Nodding at the phone saves your progress and eating food revitalises your stamina making you last
longer at doing tasks, such as ' Open fridge ' or ' Pester weird cat lady Amber '

Booze plays a big part in David's diet, as drinking replenishes his vision meter nodding more and more to this time travelling business being chalked up to a depressed, alcoholic's sad adventure.
Trying to solve his 13 year old, owl punching wife's death.

Not so colourful when you word it like that but I stay with it.

One huge positive for myself is the use of quick time events in conversations, further revealing details about characters making longer periods of conversation more interesting as your always looking to gain extra credits by hammering Y to reveal further details on a case or microwave.

The first section takes me an hour and 26 minutes to finish, this being mainly due to the fact I suffer from OCD, a lot like when I felt my way through L.A.Noire.Touching my way around David's house leaving me with an average syncho rating of 58.64%.
Forrest Kaysen

I don't know what that is but mine sounds incredibly average considering I received an 83% for mind syncho then to be heavily let down by the surprise entrance of cat lady Amber, the stunt sequence that followed leaving me with a 34% rating. I can only imagine waving my hands around like a Twat, all for the joy of kinect to connect when it wished.

My first idea is that your big grizzly ex partner Forrest Kaysen will eventually fuck you over being the leader of a drug ring with the mentioned drug ' Real Blood ' being his main trade item, leading to the ultimate betrayal, you miraculously saving your dead wife from the past, then swapping places with her only to later live against all odds and tracking down your now rogue ex partner Forrest ' Real Blood ' Kaysen, making his life something of the past in the process.

See what I did there.

I laugh at this thought knowing the creators probably have no clue where the story is going either.

The same style as 'Lost' did, make it up as you go along, ask questions later.... maybe.

4 hours later and I'm still none the wiser to the Mysterious D character, the mystery around your wife's death, the gun shot wound to your head or any details about the drug 'Real Blood', with no end in sight, as I get closer to the end of this series.

I'm still rather intrigued by it all.

Dhilip Cheney
As I dive back down the rabbit hole one more time I meet a lovely gentleman by the name of Philip ' Brick fucking wall ' Cheney, happily sucking away at his inhaler full of red dust, more than 100% percent sure the man mountains badge saying he was born in 2007.

It then takes a crazy spin of events as the plane is hit by lightning, shifting me to what seems like a completely new plane, turns out I'm on the same plane just travelling in a different direction.

It's hugely over the top, I'm not even going to try and explain it, I still don't get it.

More questions area asked at the start of Episode 2 looking to Introduce Little Peggy's other Father, in the form of a mysterious white haired male, about to meet Forest ' Yogi Bear ' Kaysen for a picnic.

Owl feather clipped to his robe like some crazy cultist.

Shock horror air assistant Olivia Jones is a DEA agent undercover, she knows you where forced to quit the BPD over the ' Real Blood ' case involving the death of you wife.

Hey Roland, why so creepy?
Resident stranger Roland Walken then reassures David he's not a drunk by telling him only he can
see Roland, claiming that he's being watched over by the man who leaves the room via air-vent, leaving only his head and surgical mask in view.

David reads a letter about his dead ' Pregnant ' wife, my keen detective skills not picking up on the pregnant part when the dead ' Pregnant ' girl appeared he called Little Peggy, I must have been looking at something shiny.

Keep an eye out for clues
Turns out the evidence David is searching for is in the form of a fake eye, warn by a hugely racist stereotype of a Latino gang-banger named Antonio Zapatero, who is under US Marshal guard by baldy Derek Buchanan.

Derek guards the eye by pulling it out of Antonio's face, beating him to death in the process.

David then calms the situation by asking Derek to stop this spree of ' Real Blood ' linked revenge murders as he can't save his dead family, revealing he in fact can thank's to the fact he's a time travelling cop, who needs that eye to travel back to the ' Past ' so he can save them all.

Escort Duty
Derek call's bullshit, only to then have a super over charged electrical wire pop out his chest ' Alien ' style

Turns out the D David was looking for comes in the form of Dhilip, I mean Philip Cheney the earlier mention 6 year old brick shit house on legs, revealing his code name is ' Delta ' as he walks into the room looking like some love child of Bane and Handsome Jack, pumped to the absolute eye balls with real blood, vials dangling of his bullet proof vest, also sporting a tongue like venom.

He punches the floor leaving a shock-wave like an EMP disrupting all visibility and I'm left with the shock wave 'To be continueD'

While the credits role I realise one question was answered, we found D, nothing else though.

The ending sequence does make me look like a boss though.

Bum squeak

Forest Kaysen meets Dr Oldman, Peggys other Father, she has two apparently, now sounding like the devil, he now tells Forrest that ' Everything has been arranged the way he wanted ', asking ' Will you be able to meet my expectations ' ? A large bum squeaking noise comes from Forrest's direction.

Called it!

  8. The primary stage the arrangement should, hypothetically, be uninfluenced by the planned force and term of the sound which is hence created. Truth be told, be that as it may, so rapidly are the three stages achieved that the piano player once in a while has ability to think, in execution, of each stage independently. casino online IDN Live
